What position?!?!?

2016/7/16 9:57:33

Question
I haven't played rugby for a while, when I did I was full back.  Now I am considering university rugby but am unsure where I would be best suited, I know a lot depends on the sizes of the team.  I am 6ft and 75 kilos, in good shape and regular gym goer, tackling is my stongest asset but my punt is only adequate which is why I doubt a return to my former position.
Any help would be welcome.

Answer
Hi Matt,

It is difficult for me to give you great advice here. I say to have fun with it. If you want to play full back then play it. Work on your punt with a coach or a guy who kicks well. If that is not to your liking try center or inside / outside center, heck try half back if you are passionate about it. Unless you are "going pro" the trick is to pick a position that will have you turning up to practice early and leaving late and looking forward to games. I happened to be a certifiable nut case who is passionate about propping.

So ask yourself: "What do I really want?"

Sorry I can't give you a more metric and focussed answer but I hope it gets you thinking.
