Foul Ball Ruling in Little League Softball: Umpire Authority & Coach Interference

Question
I was coaching my girls in a game one of the girls hit a line shot in the air over third base and futher done the line it hooked foul but in the process the umpire pointed to the infield call it fair so theplay went on. The oppsing coach influenced the young umpire of 15 to over turn it to foul ball.I thought umpires first ruling is the final not the second after they put ball in play. Mind you that this is little league girls softball.

Answer
Hi patrick,

If it went over 3rd base in the air and the 1st time it touched the ground was in foul territory, it is a foul ball, that would be the correct call.

No, an umpire can change their mind or their call, usually it is based on new information.

You're also going to get a lot of bad calls if your umpires average 15yrs old.  If I were you I'd get a rule book to study to be prepared to "help" them get the call right.
