Softball Bunt Coverage Strategies: First Baseman at Third Base
Question
Have you ever heard of first baseman covering third on any bunt? My daughter high school coach is teaching them that and I don't understand!!
Answer
Bessie,
Can't say as I am familiar with this one.
I guess I can see the reasoning. If F3 doesn't field the bunt, they really don't have anything to do. A quick sprint to 3rd could prevent the runner from heading to third.
Most coaches have the pitcher take the base if F5 covers the bunt.
