Overrunning First Base in Fastpitch Softball: Legal Tagging?

Question
Hello,
This relates to girls 14U fastpitch.  Let's say the batter has just recieved Ball 4 and begins down to first.  If they overrun first base, but with no effort towards second base (ie, the turn to their right into foul territory), can they be tagged out by the first baseperson with the ball?  I understand that if they turn into fair territory, they are certainly liable.  Thanks for your help

Answer
Hi Mike,

After over-running 1st base the b-r may legally turn to their left or their right when returning to the base.  If any attempt is made to advance to 2nd regardless of whether they are in fair or foul territory thet are liable for an appeal out if tagged while off the base.  poe 37

So no they cannot be tagged out if they are simply returning directly to 1st base.
