skipping a grade

Question
How do college coaches evaluate a player who is young for her grade?  My daughter is a 14 yr old sophomore pitcher with a top speed of 60mph but she is still growing (and improving)? She will have just turned 17 when she enters college.

Answer
I believe academic eligibility and developed talent is more important that actual physical age. A college coach can not contact your daughter anyway until after July 1 of her junior year (regardless of age). However as a parent you can contact the coaches right now for any of the colleges she may be interested in and ask them any questions you may have how they evaluate players. College coaches rarely have the time to evaluate players on their own, they depend a lot on the information from your daughter, her softball coaches, and you provide, i.e. recommendations, a skills vhs/dvd, HS classes taken, and college entrance test scores.
