Practicing with college team while playing on an 18s club team!

Question
QUESTION: My daughter is playing club ball and recently signed to play with a college team next year.  They have asked her to practice with them now when it does not interfere with her club practice.  Is that okay?  Of course she will be attending that college in the fall.

Thanks,

ANSWER: Right quick:
* Is this a 4-year school?  a jr. college?  a community college?
* If it's a 4-year school, then is it an NAIA school or an NCAA school?
* If NCAA, it is a D1, D2 or a D3 school?
When you get back to me, I'll be able to tell you more.... after I check with my sources!

QUESTION: Oops, it is a junior college -- thx

Answer
Good evening!

I have more of an answer for you now.

IF the college is a member of the National Junior College Athletic Association, the following are the rules.  I got the following information from Mary Ellen Leicht, the Executive Director of the NJCAA.

"By NJCAA rules, in order to practice with a team:
a) the player must be enrolled at the college, taking at least one class;
b) the player may be a high school student.
But, if the student is taking no classes at the college, she may NOT practice with the school.

The NJCAA is the national governing body for two-year college athletics in the United States.  Two-year college, community college, junior college ?all are interchangeable terms.  Many of our colleges have gone to simply 'college' within their name, so the name may not always indicate whether the institution is a two-year or four-year college."

IMPORTANT:  If you live in California:  "The two-year colleges in California have chosen to play only at the state level and therefore are governed by a state association, not by the NJCAA.  The same is true for the 30 or so colleges belonging to the NWAACC.

You are welcome to refer the person needing information to our website at www.njcaa.org."

(Saturday Jan 8, 2011) Now that I know you're talking about a jr college, I will ask some of my friends and get back to you.  I have a few more questions:
a) It's NOT a community college, right?  It's called something like "Johnson Junior College".
b) What state is it in?
Thanks again!
