Answer
Good morning and welcome to www.allexperts.com!

You didn't make the team, but coaches tell you that you're an outstanding player?  This doesn't make any sense to me.  Can you explain this more to me?  Why did you get cut then?  I've been coaching volleyball since 1985, and I haven't cut one outstanding player yet, and as far as I know, none of my coaching friends have either.

How do you make the team next year?  Here's my advice!

1) Club tryouts are probably finished in your area.  Did you try out?  If so, what happened?  If you didn't try out, there may still be time.  I know here in Roanoke, even though tryouts were in November, a few teams are still adding players.  You and your parents need to investigate that today!  Don't wait.  Playing on a club team IS THE #1 WAY to improve your game.
2) Get as much time on the court as you can with other teenagers who have been coached, or with coaches who can teach you the game.
3) Can you find & afford private lessons?  That'll be GREAT!!!
4) Schedule all the summer camps that you can.  Try to schedule maybe 4 or 5 or maybe even 6!  My camps only cost about $150 for 3.5 days!  You can see where I'll be at www.coachhouser.com.

On tryout days:
1) Arrive early, smile, help set up the nets, smile
2) Encourage your teammates throughout all drills.  Back in December, a girl who the coaching staff didn't even now made my team over other girls we knew, not only b/c she was really good, but b/c my assistant noticed that she was always encouraging her teammates during drills.
3) Hustle, hustle, hustle.  Coaches know that if you don't hustle during TRYOUTS, that you certainly won't hustle at normal practices.

Then trust that the coaches to keep the best players!  They do 99.9999% of the time.
And if you don't make the team, try out for another team at the school!

I hope that you have time to visit www.coachhouser.com.  I think you'll really like all the smiling faces!!

Chat later and have a great day!
