Improving your volleyb
Hello Brendon and welcome to www.AllExperts.com

My name is Coach Tovar

I am going to assume that you have been having trouble with all of the following in your question.
If you do not have anyone like a coach or friend to help you with this or you are doing this by yourself, you need to know a few things. There are only certain things we can control in volleyball and some things that we cannot. If a coach teaches you how to bump, you can only control the actual bump. You can control the the approach, refinement, and the delivery at the end of a new skill. I will give you specific tips you need for now but you will have to practice them and refine them to be adaptable to you.

Improving your Hit
1.Make sure you look at the ball and then turn away as you spike the ball.
2.Hit the ball at its highest point.
3.Make a 揅? hand position to help you with your topspin and follow through.
4.Twist your wrist from one side or other as you spike the ball.
5.Jump with momentum at an angle and not straight up.
6.Jump to reach for the spike.

Improving your Pass
1.Make sure your arms and elbows are locked.
2.Wrist should point down as elbows are locked
3.It is better to receive the ball from a low point lower than the waist.
4.Throw ball up in the air, squat and bump towards the wall, catch ball and repeat.
5.Make sure your base (legs) are not too wide.
6.A balanced position will always allow you to move in all directions within a second.
7.Do not take more than 3 steps to receive a ball.
8.Run through the ball as a last resort.

Improving your Power
1.Throw the ball towards the wall as in a pitching position 10 times then hit the ball 10 times and repeat.
2.Hit the ball straight up to about 6 to 8 ft., bump the ball up, catch the ball and repeat with both hands, 10 times on each hand.
3.With a small weight of a 1lb. or a soup can, practice throwing the can with a follow through but do not throw the can. Do this very slowly 10 times on each arm.
4.With an elastic band, hold one side with your foot and with the top of your hand move your hand up and down within 10 inches  - 20 times on each hand .

Improving your Timing
1.Perform an approach very slowly and trace your steps.
2.Your most natural approach should be the best one for you.
3.Practice your approach from the 10 foot line.
4.Practice your approach as a 4 second time ( from start of approach to the actual hit). Practice this on a branch 1 foot  higher than the actual net.
5.Practice looking away at the ball jut before you hit the ball to see your options from the blockers.
6.Most important, your starting stance should look like you are going to start a race.

I hope this answers your question.
