8/9 yr old rules

Question
Hi there,
I am trying to get my school to start girls volleyball as a 2/3 grade team so that we can start the fundamentals earlier and we have some interest at this level.  I am struggling to find osme rules that other programs use, net height? shrink the court? more than one chance at a serve? Any suggestions where I should look?

Answer
Good afternoon, and welcome to www.allexperts.com!

I'm sorry to say that I've only worked with middle and high school girls.  The youngest I've coached is u14's.

However, there should be A LOT of resources at some of the large volleyball clubs in the USA.  They will probably be happy to share with you.

I'm going to look now at the teams from the East Coast that attended the BigSouth:
* TCA is a national club, that has branches in about 10 states.
* IMPACT I think is a similar club.
* If you search for "Starlings Volleyball," this is a club for the kids who can't afford the thousands of dollars that juniors usually costs.  There are Starlings branches in almost all large cities.  Contact them.
* Try Tampa Bay Juniors.  They host the Big South Qualifier!
* Triangle is a very successful program from North Carolina.
* Capitol City Juniors I think is located in Knoxville TN.
* You may also consider searching the USA Volleyball website here:  http://usavolleyball.org/

I wish I could tell you more.  I'm sorry that I haven't been more helpful.

Please visit again!  And if you have a moment, please visit me at www.coachhouser.com!  I think you'll like the smiling faces.......of all ages!

Tom
