When to send the skills tape and is it too late to be recruited?

Question
I am a senior and i really want to play volleyball in college.  I was wondering when you should send your tape to colleges.  I feel like it is too late to get recruited, since high school volleyball is over,  but i do play club. Thanks for your help!!

Answer
Good morning Angela:

Welcome to www.allexperts.com!  We've got a lot to discuss.

a) Being recruited:   Let's talk D1.  For most D1 schools, their recruiting for the class of 2009 is done.  But not necessarily.  My stepd. plays at Radford Univ in Virginia, and they signed their last 2008 recruit in the summer of 2008.......after the girl has already graduated from high school......from Louisiana!  So, if you don't ask, you won't know.  Contact the schools that you're interested in.  Contact them today.

b) Recruited by D2, D3, NAIA.  These schools usually fill their roster later.  If you find one of these schools that you'd love to attend, contact the coach today.

c) Yes, send them all your skills tape asap.  You asked when should it have been sent.  I made my stepd's first skills tape in the spring of her soph year and I guess we sent off 10 to 15 copies.  Another one was made in the fall of her junior year.  It was better, so we shelved the 1st one.

As for how to get a coach to see you, I've answered that question twice on this site.  So please look through the questions and you'll get a lot of info.

Please visit me at www.coachhouser.com when you get a chance!  I think you'll like all the smiling faces.
