Montague Clear Lake Fly Rod Value & Information

I have a Montague 1CF Clear Lake Fly 8 1/2 ft. Med. 3 joints with red taping, I also have the cloth case. What might it be worth.

Hi Robert,

The Montague Clear Lake model in 8 1/2' should have an extra rod tip section making a total of four rod sections as a complete rod.  The Clear Lake was an entry level rod selling in the 1940s for $3.00 and in the 1950s for $8.75.  It may have been packaged only with the rod bag...no rod tube included.  The wraps on the guides are thread and should be red with green tipping.

Values for the rod would be $20-$30 in Poor-Fair condition; $60-$80 in Good-VeryGood condition; and, $100-$125 in Excellent-Mint condition.  The value of this rod depends upon the actual condition of the rod and the bag.
