Identifying & Valuing Vintage Heddon Fishing Rods
Question
I have a fishing pole that I have a couple questions about. I'm not 100% what kind of Heddon fishing pole it is. The numbers on the handle. It says U.S. Patents 1961968-1961969 & 1961970-1962869. I would like to know, what kind it is, how old it is & possible how much it is worth? Thank you for your time.
Thank You,
Josh
Answer
Hi Josh,
I'm going to assume that this is a casting rod and the numbers you found are on the metal reel seat. If this is so, there should be a number written on the rod just in front of the fore grip in black ink. The Heddon name should be written on the rod shaft...does it go in a spiral or straight down one of the flats? I suspect the patent numbers are for the reel seat, not the rod.
If you have the ability to do so, can you send a picture via email to joe@rodbuildersinternational.com and I'll look at it for you.
I need to narrow down the rod type before providing any more information.
Thanks, Joe
