pike

Question
The two gravel pits where I fish, one is murky and the other is gin clear, the clear one Ive fished back in late spring and caught two pike, one on a jerkbait and one on a jig,and ever since the water warmed up , not even the 'hammerhandles' can be found, so will they show up again in october and november? Also do big pike come towards the shallows this time of year? In the murky pit during this time of year should the bigger pike be more catchable, caught nothing but pike in the 8 to 20 inch range, also these are smaller bodies of water.

Answer
Greetings,

Pike tend to like cooler water. Most of them are probably in the deeper cool water in the summer. I would expect them to come shallow again as the water cools. I would concentrate on where their food source is. They may have been shallow as a result of spawning. I don't think water clarity would mater much.

Joe
