value of bamboo rods

Question
I have three bamboo rods which I am considering placing on Craigslist for sale and have been told by friends they are fairly valuable.  Need an experts opinion if valuable or worthless.  1) Ward's Sturdibilt Split Bamboo rod, 9ft long in 3 pieces and and extra 4th end, excellent condition.
2) Phil Larson Paramount bamboo rod, 9 ft. in four pieces.  Good shape except for tip broken.
3)  Granger Victory bamboo rod in 3 pieces, 8 ft long, and also has tip broken.
Thank you for your help.

Answer
Hi LaDonna,

OK, starting with the Ward's Sturdibilt rod...this one is not a high quality bamboo rod.  Ward's did not make rods, they had the rods made by another firm and Ward's name was put on them.  With all four sections the proper length and in excellent condition the value could be in the $60-$100 range.

I find no infirmation at all on Phil Larson as a rod builder.  Perhaps it is the original owner's name?  Or, maybe it once said Phillipson?  Bill Phillipson did make a Paramount model, 3/2 (three piece rod with two tip sections).  If it does, or did, say Phillipson at one time, this is a better quality rod.  Assuming the unbroken tip section os the correct length, this rod would be downgarded in value due to the broken tip.  The estimated value would be in the $80-$120 range depending on actual condition.

The Granger Victory was at the low end of Granger models, but still a qualtiy rod.  This one may have had two tips originally and one is now missing.  Either way, the broken tip downgrades the value significantly.
Estimated value would be in the $90-$120 range.

The rods with broken tips will be more difficult to sell.  The Ward's rod will be less desirable to most buyers than other brands.  You should be able to sell them but the current market may struggle to even get the low end of these estimates.

Thanks  Joe
