soft plastic storage

Question
I recently purchased a tackle bag with individual compartments, and would like to know if I could take my scented soft plastics out of their original bag, and store them in individual compartments. Would this affect the bait's scent? Thank you

Answer
Hi Jack,

A lot of the heavily scented things on the market today are meant to be stored in their own bags.  Most of them like Chompers (heavy Garlic) you wouldn't want out of the bag and amongst the rest of your tackle.  They are pretty strong.  Then there are things like Gulp that MUST stay in the bag.  A 4" Gulp worm will dry up to the size of a wooden match if you don't put it back in the solution.

There are some old-school soft plastics (like Mister Twisters, Mann's Jelly worms, etc) that can be taken out of the bags and be OK.  But in general, most of the new scented soft baits are made to keep best in their original zip locked package.

Good fishing.
