Heddon Vicount Custom 8' 1/2' Fly Rod & Reel: Understanding Specs & Line Weights

Question
I have a Heddon Vicount Custom  8007 8 1/2' fly marked as C-HCH-GBF.  It has a Heddon Mark IV Model 11 automatic reel.  What does the C-HCH-GBF indicate.  Any way of knowing in today's language what weight line this combo is good for.  Any good websites for additional information on this gear that you're aware of?

Answer
Bob,
First line conversion to modern:
AFTMA #   DT   WF            LEVEL   MM - OD   IN - OD
7   HCH   HCF       C   1.27   .050
So you would want to use a 7 wt but a 6 or 8  would do. I have not played with a heddon automatic but I have cast a spring loaded automatic reel with modern lines with no problem.
I am not aware of websites but here's some books that will be at your larger central libraries:
Antique & Collectable Fishing Reels: Identification, Evaluation &  Maintenance Homel, & Jellison. 1996.

Antique & Collectable Fishing Rods: Identification & Value Guide Homel, Dan. 1997

Bamboo Rod Restoration Handbook -Michael Sinclair

A private page that may go away soon  with the history of Heddon:

What kind of information are you looking for ? There are allot of people selling similar items on ebay and the web.
Luck,
Mac
