How do I tie a "blood"(sp)knot?
I'm respooling a new reel with #2 fireline,
and was told to start with a short mono line and tie
the fire line to it using a blood knot.

Yes, good advise.  Start out with some mono backing and blood knot the fireline to the mono.  

I could sit here and try to describe the blood knot or double uni-knot, but a picture is worth a thousand words when it comes to knots.
