-----Question-----
what is the best size rod for a casting reel also best preforming line test for bass fishing in creeks
-----Answer-----
Pole size will depend on what you are fishing for, size of line, type of lure, etc.. As for creek fishing I like to use 6 pound test or less on a spinning rig. I personally do not use casting equipment below 10 pound test. Casting is too short on smaller test and requires too much energy for an old geezer...with bad shoulders.
7 Foot is generally good. But again size is determined by use. Crankbait rods can be smaller for better hook set, spinner baits and jigs you tend to use longer rods like 7 footers, and 6 footers for worm fishing.. for shorter hook set and stiffer action.
Contact me with more info and I can help you but without more info on what you want to do it is hard to tell you what size rod.

Answer
For stream fishing like you are doing I like to use a light or medium light rod and reel matched combo. I use 4 or 6 pound test line, usually clear or green mono.
A 7 foot rod is a bit long for stream fishing, with overhaning brush, tree's and carrying it through the woods. A light 5.5 foot or ultralight 5 foot rod would work well in my opinion.. Still go to a local tackle store and fool around with rods until you find what you are looking for. I tend to like rods that are longer because I am over 6 feet tall.. shorter folks will tend to like shorter rods.. so try a few out. AGAIN the light or ultra light works really good for streams and is easier to carry into the woods.

PS try using some twister tail jigs and tube jigs.. they imitate a lot of good bait in streams.
