age of rod

Question
when did the mohawks rods come out. Not the fly fishing rods but a regular rod with 3 eyes and real wood handle? It also has a JC Higgins reel attached. I found it about 14 years ago.

Mohawk was a line of Horrock Ibbotson - who made low end fishing equipment. The Mohawk steel rods date from the 50s.

Note: Flyrods are typically more collectable, valuable than bait casting, trolling rods.
