Am interested in what wt fly line to use with my South Bend Fly Rod 33RM 9foot fly rod. The 33RM is on the label of the rod case, but no indication of the weight.

I test line weight for free in Denver. You might try local fly shops and ask them to test it with different weights , they have them on reels. You could ask them to test reels with different line weights starting at 6 and try 7 and 5. Our forefathers fished allot like we do today, so the odds are, it is 6 weight.
I could help you better with a model number . 33RM is not a bamboo model number, they used 2-3 digit numerical model numbers, on the butt section.
Is it bamboo , flat sided , or fiberglass , round.

Thank you for the info. The model is 33 or 339 and it is Bamboo Flat sided. Its in a local(CA) shop right now getting a couple guides/tip top repaired. The model is either 33 or 339 the RM was written on the tag of the fabric holder. Thanks again!

SB made bamboo rod models 33 , 336 but not 339, but none of that is relevant if it is not on the rod , socks (fabric holders) don't count.
