kiraku bamboo fly rod

Question
Hello Rich,

I have a kiraku 6 in 1 grampus 8 foot, three tip bamboo fresh water fly rod combination purchased in Japan, in 1951.

The thread color is a black and gold.

There are no markings on the rod, since they have worn away due to age.

The rod itself is in very good condition

Would you know anything about these types of rods, such as value?

Right know I do not have any pictures to send you.

But any information you could provide would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

Joe

Answer
8 piece rods are interesting museum pieces but are harder than heck to cast, therefore they do not command much value. The bottom line is that it is not going to sell for over 100, if it is like the other Post WWII  Japanese rods that I have seen , that come in a box with lures and flies, resale value is minimal. Allot of armed forces boys brought these rods back with them . They were junk then. They are not collectable except for a solders memento.  As to fishability , the ones I have waved have been very poor action .
