Identifying & Valuing Vintage Actionrod Fishing Poles (Detroit, MI)
Question
I have an older fishing pole marked Actionrod in a cloth bag, marked Detroit Michigan, and both are in a long metal tube with a screw on cap on both ends. It is marked Model 1690, HCH-D Line. Can you tell me the approximate age & is it worth anything? I can email pictures if needed. Many thanks. Vicki
Answer
Vicki,
Are the sides flat (bamboo) or round (fiberglass)?
Cabelas makes a graphite rod model close to Actionrod , but they probably wouldn't be Detroit, Michigan. In my Shakespeare and Pflueger Rods database they have model 1690, PFL, Graph-Glass Rod 1978, spinning. Is the reel below the handle(fly) or above (cast/spin rod)? HDH line went out as line weights in the 60s. Shakespeare was in Kalamazoo which is close enough to be Detroit . So I need a more complete description of the rod . Length and the above questions , pictures to macsrods@yahoo.com.
Luck,
Mac
