I am new at fishing and need to know the rules and how big fish have to be to keep them

Today's fishing regulations are quite complicated.  Some are set by the Federal Government and most by State Governments.  Depending upon where you are fishing, the size, season, need for a license, and total number allowed to be kept are set by one of the agencies involved in that area.  You will have to get local regulations from a source where you intend to fish.  The best place for this is a local bait and tackle shop, not a large chain discount sporting goods place, but something more of a Mom and Pop opperation.
