Salmon Trolling Rigging: Optimal Setup & Order - San Francisco
Question
How do I rig my pole for trolling for salmon on the ocean near San Francisco? I have the salmon releases and the heavy duty snap swivels, but in what order do they go on the end of my line? Also, does the short end of the release go to the bottom or up closest to the rod?
Thank you.
Answer
Hi David,
I need a little more info to help you. Are you using a downrigger? If you can give me a little more info about what your general set up is, I may be able to help you. Otherwise, your best bet is to hang out at a boat ramp and see what others are doing. I can explain basic salmon trolling if you want. I don't know the local methods for San Fran. though.
Good luck,
Scott
