Shakespeare bamboo fly rod

Question
Fly rod
Fly rod
Hello Rich, I have a fly rod that I framed for my Dad about 10 years ago. It is in great condition. It is a Shakespeare bamboo 3 piece 9' rod with an extra tip. The only blemishes on this rod is the decal is missing a little spot and the cork is a little scratched. Im trying to look for the cloth bag it came in. Structurally it is perfect, No threads loose and nothing bent. Im going to sell the rod in the frame but im wondering the value of the rod to come up with a price for the whole thing. Thanks so much for your help.

Answer
Curtis,
I know what you mean that you only see a couple of blemishes. Bamboo rarely has a few blemishes. Often when it shows some use, the finish is not smooth or fully covered- flaking off.

Price Book:
Antique & Collectible  Fishing Rods: Identification & Value Guide by Homel, Dan. 1997 (2nd edition 2000) add about 30% for age of book.
Homel gives the Shakespeare Model 1326 fly rod 9' (3/2) c.1950 with an extra tip, 3 sections the  value of  $20, 65 and $115 for poor, good, excellent condition respectively.
So we might get $100 for the rod.I would recommend you check ebay for prices, too.

Luck,
Mac
