Answer
Stuart,
E.W. Edwards was a highly respected rod maker. Most of the information I have on his rods are from

Price Book:
Antique & Collectible  Fishing Rods: Identification & Value Guide Homel, Dan. 1997 (2nd edition 2000) add about 30% for age of book.
Classic & Antique Fly-Fishing Tackle: A Guide for Collectors & Anglers by A.J. Campbell

especially
Playing With Fire: The Life and Fly Rods of E.W. Edwards  by Patrick C. Garner.

Model F-7 fly rod by Edwards 8 1/2' (3/2)    55   170   295

Bristol was one of several companies who sold EW's rods. In fact it was the last one. Your rod is dated from 1931 to 1932 , when E.W. died.

I am aware of a model 3 and a model 7 but I would need to see pictures of 73 to believe it.

Homel gives the Edwards Bristol 8 1/2'  model Model F-7 fly rod with an extra tip, 3 sections the  value of  $55, 170 and $295 for poor, good, excellent condition respectively.

Just up on eBay with 6 days to go asking 310 for an f-5 - he might get it
