South Bend Fly Rod Value: Identification & Appraisal

Question
I Have a South Bend fly rod in excellent shape in a soft case and a hard case. It says 336-9' HDH or D. Can you tell me the Value of this pole?

Answer
Leslie,
I am assuming your rod has flat sides therefore is made from bamboo.  I am also assuming  the reel is below the handle not above therefor is a fly rod. If it is not then all bets are off.

The Price book:
Antique & Collectable Fishing Rods: Identification & Value Guide Homel, Dan. 1997 (2nd edition 2000) add about 30% for age of book.

Homel gives the 8.5  South Bend model Model #346 fly rod 9' with an extra tip, 3 sections a value of  $35, 80 and $150 for poor, good, excellent condition respectively. So you can see condition affects value . Homel does not mention the 36 or 336 model but this is close in my experience. As well the 36 model series were  not the top of a medium price line.
Your rod is dry fly action  indicated by the initial 3.

If you want more , i need more details- please see my all experts web page for specific questions to answer. http://www.allexperts.com/ep/1634-36866/Fishing/Rich-Mac-McGaughey.htm
