vintage steel rod

rod handle   QUESTION: Hello Mr. Vermillion.....Did Zebco have a steel fishing rod?  I have a steel rod with a plastic handle which looks like Zebco.  There are no marking on the rod as to who made it. I've search the web but have found nothing on this.  Thanks for your time.      Dave

Zebco changed over from making military bomb timing devices over to fishing reels in the 1950s (they were the Zero Hour Bomb Company). I dont think they made steel rods, which were popular until fiberglass replaced steel - also in the 1950s. Is the rod section interchangeable from the handle?

QUESTION: Hello Bob.....There is no locking nut to separate the rod from the handle. But I did put a small crescent wrench on the six sided rod and can turn it off from the handle, but didn't take it off all the way.  You may be on to something, someone may have put a different handle on this rod.  Anyway, it sure looks like a Zebco handle to me.  Thanks, Dave

Sorry, I missed the original message, you mentioned there is no marking on the handle. it will be difficult to determine the maker. I would post a photo at this website, see if you get any feedback:
