SouthBend Flyrod

Question
I have a SouthBend Flyrod No. 525, 9ft. long, in a steel tube casing, and I can't seem to find any information about it anywhere. I was wondering if you could tell me more about it, such as how much it's worth, what year it was possibly made in, and where I could sell it.

Answer
william,

Bamboo was replaced with fiberglass shortly after WWII, so your rod is probably from the 1930s to 1940s. You didnt mention condition. The rod should have two tips, a cloth bag that went in the steel tubing.

Rod collectors are picky about condition, if is not near mint the value drops fast...so I would estimate $75 to $200. rod values are down quite a bit with the economy.

but i would get a 2nd opinion here - its a website dedicated to bamboo rods....they will want you to post good photos of the rod.
