Identifying and Valuing Vintage Bamboo Fly Rods

i have an old bamboo rod that i am trying to find the value of. the cloth bag it is in says actionrod and says its a model 551. the rod looks to be a fly rod although it is pretty large in diameterand it is in 3-4 pieces to it. thank you for taking the time to read this email i greatly appreciate your time and knowledge

Hi Donald,

Actionrod (Orchard Industries) didn't make bamboo rods.  They made steel and fiberglass rods.  They did make a fiberglass fly rod that was painted to look like bamboo and I'm guessing that is what you have.  Value depends on actual condition of the rod, bag and tube (if it came with a bag and tube originally).  For the typical Actionrod glass fly rod value would be in the $40-$70 range in Good-Very Good condition; and $70-$100 for Excellent-Mint condition.
