L.L. Bean fly rod

Question
Not a Powell but hoping you can help me out here. Just purchased an 8 wt. L.L. Bean 'Quest' flyrod off of ebay. It is unused, beautiful and I can't wait to get into the tribs for steelhead. The seller advertised this rod as fiberglass, but it seems awfully light. Now I haven't had a fiberglass rod in my hands in quite some time, are glass rods that much lighter now. I remember my old Shakespeare wonderod being heavier. I've searched the Bean site and Quest rods, but all that comes up are the Quest lls(twos) which I believe are the next generation and graphite. Any help would be appreciated. Any general info also: are Bean flyrods a dependable rod? will this standup to a steelhead battle? etc.  For $31, I'm not complaining. Thanks, Paul

Answer
Hi Paul - You are correct.  The rod is graphite, not fiberglass.  Bean flyrods are very dependable and are great rods for the money.  You did quite well at $31.  It will work great for steelies and should stand up well to battling large fish.  If you do have any problems simply contact L.L. Bean.  Their rods have an unconditional lifetime warranty. I hope this helps,
Rich
