fishing from bank

hello, i was wondering if you no a good spot to fish from the bank, i live in oregon close to Portland so if you no any good spot there that would be a help. i wanted to no if i should fish peers or just throw it in the waves not sure. i am a big fresh water fisherman and fish 50 times a year i usually fish for bass and trout. and also what bais and teat and tackle should i use i just want to catch anything in ocean no one fish so him not sure on what works better and how much bait. or should i fish it like bass or should i just throw bait and let sit like i was catfish. ok sry if  asked to much hopefully you can help.

I do not fish in that area.  Your best bet is to contact a local bait and tackle shop, not the fishing department of some large chain like Walmart, Dicks, Sports Authority or some other similar store.  Though the chain stores may have competent sales people, a small privately owned local bait and tackle shop should give you more detailed information and provide you with the necessary bait and terminal tackle as well as specific spots to fish.
