Driver Problem

Question
Michael, for some reason this year I am "Smothering" my drives low and left. It has almost gotten to the point that I have the Yips with my woods.
To top it off my iron play is real good. I even went to irons off the tee last time out . Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Paul

Answer
Paul,

Your club face is entering the impact area closed which is causing the ball to go low and left. Let me give you a couple of reasons why this may be occurring. First you may be leaving the majority of your weight on your back foot during the downswing. This will cause the face to close which will also delofts the club. Make sure that your weight transfers to your front foot before you start the downswing.

The other possible reason may be that you are over active with your hands. Try to keep your hands idle during your downswing and see if this helps.

Thanks for the question.

Michael
