Wrong shaft symptoms

Question
I am a 68 year old who hit the ball fairly long not to many years ago.  Now I am losing some distance and the ball wants to go right (not necessarily a slice-just starts out right) on a lot of drives.  I am still trying to hit a stiff shaft which I know is probably wrong (Irons are R shaft and I don't have this problem). Is the fact that the ball is going right a symptom of too stiff of a shaft.  With the same swing and too weak of a shaft cause the ball to go left. I am taking the presumption that I am swinging correctly, Ha! Ha!

Answer
Mickey,

It sounds as though the shaft is not kicking correctly (releasing) thus keeping the face open causing the ball to go right and short. Typically if you swing too flexible of a shaft the ball will go high and left.I would suggest going to a regular or senior shaft to see better results.

Thanks and good luck,

Michael
