Golf Club Fitting: Correcting Lie Angle for Improved Accuracy

Question
QUESTION: I had been struggling with an 8 iron for quite some time (up until about 2 months ago).  My club turned out to be 2.5 degrees flat altogether.  I initially bent it 2 degrees and it hit way better at the range (last time I played golf, it tended right slightly).  Today I had it bent half degree more upright.  Hit 4 perfectly straight shots in a row at the range on the way back to work.

ANSWER: Lou, it's funny how small things like that can affect shots like they do; you were smart to look there for the cause of your wayward shots.

QUESTION: On the way home last night I hit 20 balls with it and the 7 iron (which I also had tweaked to 63; it is one of those "transition" hollow irons).  I was nailing the 8 iron perfectly straight even off the bad lies of Miramar Driving Range.  The 7 was tending about 10 yards left and not going so far (maybe about 140 or so).

ANSWER: It seems the tweaking never ends.

QUESTION: The 7 iron works like a charm with a 62.5 degree loft and basically goes straight and 150 yards (once in a while it tends right or tends left a little).  The only caveat is that the 39 degree hybrid goes 150 and pretty much goes straight ALL the time; furthermore, it is a goto club.

Answer
The problem facing golfers is that there are over 300 muscles in motion while striking a golf ball and any unusual event (like straining your back picking up something heavy) can throw the whole swing out of sequence and cause the go-to club to be less effective.
