pitching to a raised putting surface

Question
Let's say you are hitting a 25 yard pitch to a green which is raised up by 15 feet above the ball.
Obviously you would normally use more club to compensate for loss of distance. however on shorter pitches I have noticed I am usually long, and i think this is because the ball lands with less spin. Is this true and if so do you know any methods to estimate distance to pitch this sort of shot?

Answer
Hi Richard,

No, it's not because of less spin. It's because of the lower angle of trajectory at impact.

Read my newsletter on this topic:

There is a way that one could predict how far the pitch would roll, depending on the height elevation change, but I haven't done that. A very good topic for one of my upcoming newsletters.
I'll try to include it in my next newsletter next week. Make sure you sign up to receive it and bookmark my site.

Ken Tannar
