tilt vs turn

Question
I am a tall guy - 6'5". I tend to tilt my shoulders back and through rather than turning/rotating them. Causes a push or a flip/hook. Suggestions? Thanks

Hi Ken as a tall man you doubt have extended clubs? if you haven't been custom fit for clubs you need to straight away. The reason you are tilting instead of turning is due to accomodating clubs that are too short thus stooping at address, longer clubs will make your posture better and in turn will afford you a better swing. Think of when you play a shot from a sloping lie, with the ball above your feet (more upright posture)it is easier to turn your body, with a ball below your feet lie (posture more stooped) you'll tend to tilt instead, this is the same effect as having ill fitting clubs.
If you want, you can practice hitting balls from a ball above feet situation to experience the feeling of a correct turn and use it when hitting real shots from normal ground.
Good luck!
