The Curious Case of the Bed in 1922 Scottish Golf Tournaments

In 1922 in Scotland in Golf Games a bed was there. It was brought there by a different player each time (each game of a series/tournament). It was an ordinary home bed. It had nothing to do with the game of golf. Why was it brought there?

I have a series of history books and re-read the tournament history and the establishment of the rules history and cannot find a thing about why a bed would be a golf game in Scotland. Particularly in 1922, golf was in the Americas by then. If you could give me a reference of why 1922 or some other piece of information I am afraid I cant answer this one other than I dunno
