Handicap Question

Hi Skip,
I'm a beginner so I certainly do not have a handicap yet.  However, I am playing
in a charity scramble and am being asked my handicap for the team.   In a case
such as this, how do I respond?  A colleague said "just say 30".  Thanks!

Dear Laurie, thanks for the question.  In a scramble format the handicap won't have an impact, but rather the committee usually just wants to know how the teams are paired up  As a beginner, Anything around 30 is just fine.  The maximum is 36.  But like I said, it has no bearing on a captain and crew format.
