Improving

Question
Hi Dathaeus
(cool name is it Greek?)
I am 50. I was never big into the sport, I looked at it as a way to drink beer outside in the summer.
Recently however, I have quit drinking and am working on getting fitter.
I went out for the first time this year today with my old budd/regular partner (he gave up the suds too).
No driving ranger or anything.
Amazingly I shot 102 and tied him-my best score ever. And this with old cheaper clubs while he has a new set, huge drivers, etc.
The only reason I can think of for my improvement is my improved physical and mental fitness level.
If this is the case I am gung ho to keep it up. Can you reccomend and golf specific exercises/ workouts?
I am so pumped now I plan to hit the driving range on my day off.
Other than hitting balls and putting, as an expert can you reccomend some more specific things I can do out there to improve my game?
Thanks so much!

Answer
Hi there and thank you for asking... it was a name given to me at baptism, and seems to have religious connotations, but certainly does sound Greek and I like it...

Of course there are things, in fact, TOO many things, but congrats on your way to better golf!  If you work just a little at things, I am sure you will break 90 within a year, if you play and practice at least 2-3 times a week.
