New irons

Question
Today I was playing with my dad's co worker and he let me use his iron on a par 3. He didn't tell me what it was, but I was about to use a 6 iron on a 140 yarder. I hit it about 10 feet away. Then he gave me his and I hit it pin high.... WITH A 9 IRON!!! He had a mizuno iron with a stiff shaft.

So, I was thinking of getting some new irons for christmas as it would help me a lot probably. What brand do you think I should get at a reasonable price (isn't mizuno pricy?) Thanks!

Answer
Jeff,

Mizunos don't have to be pricey. Check out some golf retailers that sell used clubs. It just takes a few minutes to make these calls. If they don't have what you're looking for, ask them to call you if anyone trades the clubs in to them. You can always get the clubs fitted to you for a few dollars. Check your local newspaper for used clubs as well.

Determine what you want to play with - 1st choice, 2nd choice and so on. Then start looking around. It may take you some time, maybe six months, before you find a good deal.

Good luck,
