Golf Shaft Selection: A Senior Golfer's Distance Solution - A Flex vs. R Flex

I need more distance off the tee. I am 63 and my handicap is 11. In a recent test at a golf shop my ss was 90. I tried the Nike 5000 with Diamana R flex and A flex today, 9 holes each. I flew the A flex 10-15 yards further and hit every fairway. The kick is, I was using an 8.5* head. I have made clubs and know that this is a strange combo but it works. Should I buy the A flex even though golf shop personnel are trying to talk me out of it? Thanks for the info.

That is a very different combination. It worked for 9 holes. Before you buy the club. put it to the test again. Play a round of 18 holes with it and make sure it's the only driver in your bag. If you're satisfied with how it performs, buy it regardless of how different it is.
