Why Is My Golf Drive Hooking? - Swing Analysis & Driver Advice

Question
When I hit my ball off the tee it flies straight for about 200 yards or so then it starts to curve to the right. It curves for about another 75+ yards and winds up either on the edge of the fair way or in the woods. Will a better driver such as the Taylor Made R7 help or is there something wrong with my swing?
thanks

Answer
Claude:  I'll have to make a couple of assumptions to answer this question:
1.  That you're right-handed.
2.  That the problem is only with your driver.

The fact your drives start straight tells me the club is traveling on a correct path and the shaft is probably suited to your swing speed.  The fact that it curves after a while indicates the club face is open in relation to the club path.

Getting a driver that can be adjusted to promote a draw or straight ball is probably the easiest way to address your problem.  I would make sure the flex is the same as you have now as well as the flex point.

Good luck Claude as I wish you the best.
