Green Pin Placement: Recommended Distance & Etiquette

Is there a minimal distance that the hole/flagstick should be placed from the edge of the green?

Dear Jerry, thanks for the question.  There is no official standard for this minimum, however over the years, it has become unofficially somewhere around 6-7 feet out of courtesy to the player, and often even more.  Most superintendents will advise their staffs to keep the cups fair, allowing a reasonable putt from all angles.  Good luck, thanks again and remember...
