Using a tee that was found on the tee box

Question
I recently played golf with a fellow who said it was illegal to tee a ball with a tee that was found on the tee box.  At first this made sense since I didn't bring the tee with me.  But I seem to recall that Pros can replace a club or get sleeve of balls from the tour van (equipment they did not bring) whenever they like.  Please clarify... is it illegal to tee a ball with a 'found' tee?

Answer
Dear Brian, thanks for the question.  No penalty to use a broken and/or found tee.  The teeing ground allows for your choice.  A broken is not illegal, and a tee is also not required of course.  Good luck, thanks again for asking and remember...

Love the game,
skipper
