3-wood

Question
hello and thank you in advance for your help.  i have an old three wood that i love.  i still hit it well.  it is a graphite shaft and i would like to get a stiff flex shaft.  about how much money does it usually cost?  also, the whole club is really worn out and i would like to get it to shine again.  is there any way to achieve this?  is there any trick to this?  thank you very much for your help.

Answer
Tommy,

You can get a shaft from Golfsmith or another dealer for between $50 and $100.  Someone will probably charge you around $20 or so to put it in, plus you'll have to buy a grip.  I'd try cleaning it up with a household cleaner that's appropriate for whatever the club is made of...stainless, copper, etc.  You can buy a club re-finishing kit, but I tried one once for a customer of mine and the thing didn't work at all...the club looked worse.  As long as you hit it well I wouldn't worry about what it looks like.  There are plenty of guys out there with big, shiny, expensive new drivers who still spend most of their day in the woods.

Good Luck,

John
