white stakes rule

Question
If you hit your first ball off the tee box and it goes beyond the white stakes, are you permitted to used a tee for your second shot from the tee box.

If you playing a Par 3 with a Island green,  your shot goes over the green into the water, there is no drop area on the backside of the green.  Do you drop the ball from the back of the green on hit from the drop area.  If it land on the green and roll into the water, where do you drop.

Thank you

Sincerely,

pfunk3

Answer
Hello Rickie,

Thanks for the question. Sorry for the late reply I have been away but was still showing as available on the allexperts site.

If your ball goes out of bounds from the tee box(inline with or beyond the white stakes) in stroke play you must play another ball from the tee box. There is no other option.

If the ball goes into the water you must first find out what colour the stakes are. Yellow is a normal water hazard whereas red indicates a lateral water hazard. This will have a significant effect on the outcome. For both you can play from the original position but what you must find out is where the ball last crossed the water hazard. This will determine your dropping options.

The rules can be found at www.randa.org

I hope this helps. Let me know the colour stakes and I will be able to help you further.

Kind regards.

Marc Evans.
