Question
Hi Ken, I started this year to play golf, so I am not so experienced as you can see. My question is this, can you describe for me the position of all parts of the body and club in the downswing just before hitting the ball? I ask you this because I have a lot of concerns regards where should be positioned the hips, in front? toward the target?, my right foot should be lift or in the grown? my left arm should be straight? In what angle should be the shaft of the club? Well as you can see, there are a lot of concerns. I try to watch this posture on pros in TV, but this specific moment goes on very fast and is difficult to capture the picture. This will help me understand how is the best way to be or the posture in the moment of impact.

Thanks a lot for your help and support.

Best regards

Answer
Hi Bernardo,

There are lots of different positions of the various parts of the body just before impact. The good players basically achieve similar positions. However, the positions also depend on the body characteristics of the golfer, such as flexibility and muscle mass.

The hips, for instance, will always be slightly facing the target at impact. The exact angle depends on the body type. For most players, the right heel is off the ground and the left arm is fairly straight.

I'd get some still photographs of players swings. Golf Digest usually has a swing of a good player in every issue.

Hope this helps.
