Answer
Matthew,

I get this question fairly often (how do I find a sponsor?)  If you can read any of the public answers I've given to others, I would give you the same advice...

Play in all the events you can.  Play well enough to get the attention of people in your area.  Then arrange to play golf with these guys (guys who would get a kick out of supporting a good young player).  Those guys are around.  They've always been around.  They tend to be members of really nice private clubs but they have a love of the game and want to be connected with a player on tour.

Get competent legal advice before you sign any agreement or contract.

Contact the tour headquarters for the PGA Tour, the Hooters Tour and the Nationwide Tour to find out about their qualifying process.  It changes a little from year to year.  There are also many smaller, "mini" tours you can play to learn to compete at a higher level.  Being "scratch" is not good enough to play on tour.  You really need to be a plus 5 or better to compete at the higher levels of the game.  And you need tournament toughness (by competing with good players often).

Good luck to you.  I hope my answer is helpful to you.

Kind regards,

Paul Dolman
