Question
I play to a 10.3 index.  I am 5'5" and 115 lbs.  My swing speed is in th e75-80
MPH with the driver.  I currently have the ladies Callaway FT-I driver, 13
degree loft.  I tend to balloon the ball, at times. with this club and my average
driver is around 170 yards.  For the past 5 rounds, I've used my husband's
driver, FT-I regular graphite 10 degree loft. I have getting 15-20 yards more
distance simply by using his driver.  I'm confused as to why I'm able to swing
this club as consistently as I've been given the length of the shaft and the
lower loft.  I have a Sky Caddie and have measured the distance by hitting
both drivers and comparing.  I'm considering trading my club in for one like
my husband's.  Maybe this is a no brainer, but I was under the impression
from the fitting I've had that the shaft and loft were best suited for me.  NOw,
I'm not so sure.

Answer
Hello Stacy
I am glad you have such interest in improving your game, many golfers become complacent and do not look to improve. From the information you gave me I am thinking the length of the shaft is giving you 5 yards, and the loft another 5.  Plus the mental thought of  "Wow, I am hitting this further" actually is another 5.  there is your 15 yards.  At 5'5" you can swing a mens club if you are athletic and it sounds like you are, I would suggest a Mens Senior flex 10.5 Degree driver.  The flex will be nearly the same as a womens, and flex adds distance. Before you trade in the 13 degree, be sure you are driving the ball forward with a full release of the hands and not trying to lift the ball or hit it straight, which both lead to ballooning.  as do tight hands. Often times trying to square up the club at impact is exactly what leads to ballooning and slices! feel like you are driving the ball into a wind and you need to keep it under a branch from a tree,  much like a forehand in tennis or even ping pong,  drive it forward and just over the net,  that is distance.  take a look at my website   walkersgolfventures.com  it is a fun website,  turn your speakers on !  Thanks for your inquiry and write any time
